BCC RPI Hillsboro: Draft Air Contaminant Discharge Permit Related Documents
The DEQ comment period for this proposed renewal of an Air Contaminant Discharge Permit ends March 27, 2007. The facility is located in Hillsboro, Oregon and manufactures polycrystalline silicon wafers. The proposed permit would place no limit on carbon dioxide, a key global greenhouse gas. In addition, the permit would explicitly increase the facility's carbon monoxide limit by 90 tons per year, which is 11 times the existing permit. Carbon monoxide is oxidized in the atmosphere forming carbon dioxide. The permit renewal would also allow an increase of 37 tons per year of sulfur dioxide, which is over 19 times the existing permit for the acid rain forming gas.
