Permitted Mixing Zone Size for Toxicity:
Waterbody: Pacific Ocean at about 500 feet offshore and east of Chetco Point. Discharge located in coastal tidal region affected by the Pacific Ocean.
Acute Mixing Zone: 30-foot radius about a 72-foot long multiport diffuser. See Fact Sheets from 1999 and 2011.
Acute Mixing Zone Surface Area: Estimated SA is 7,147.4 square feet.

Chronic Mixing Zone: 300-foot radius about a 72-foot long multiport diffuser.
Chronic Mixing Zone Surface Area: Estimated SA is 325,943 square feet.
Chronic Mixing Zone Volume: The previous DEQ fact sheet (1999) indicates a minimum depth of about 10 ft above the multiport diffuser so the Chronic MZ volume is approximately 3,259,430 cubic feet (i.e., 24.4 million gallons).
